A Day With The Producer of "Think and Grow Rich"

Mr. Shin and I!
"Think and Grow Rich", written by Napoleon Hill, has sold over 100 million copies world wide! It is constantly changing the lives of everyone who comes across it. If you haven't read it yet, I would definitely recommend it. A lot of it is about increasing your income, but it is also fabulous for personal development.

"You're never going to make a living if you are always working to live" - John Shin

Last month I had the opportunity to spend a day learning from John Shin, the producer of the movie made from the book, "Think and Grow Rich". John Shin is an incredible man. His family moved to the USA from the Philippines when he was about 1 years old. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, an M.B.A., and earned a Jurist Doctorate Degree in Law. Since then, he has been working and training in the Financial Services industry for over 23 years. He has been featured in Forbes magazine twice, as well as Finance magazine. Today, he commands a sales force of nearly 6,800 agents, practices in 26 states, with 42 offices throughout the United States. (for more on John Shin visit his website)

Mr. Shin is hilarious and an amazing presenter. I video recorded a lot of what he presented on, but I am still waiting for permission to share it. So today I just wanted to share a few notes of some of the things I learned while spending time with him. The more you spend time with people who are where you want to be, the more chance you will have to get there. That's what I plan on doing!

Be Bold. If it is important to you, you will find the way to do it. Don't be such a good deal closer that you close yourself!

Know what your end goal is. Call it out. Declare your intentions vocally. Challenge someone to compete with you. Be specific. Share it on social media.

Wear things to start conversations. Mr. Shin always wears a shirt or a hat from his University to start conversations. He also wears a giant ring on his hand that people ask him questions about all the time. It makes it easy for others to want to approach him, instead of him always having to start every conversation.

Immediate follow up. It is important to do immediate follow up with people and prospects you meet- as in if you met that day, call that night! Make it brief; just an invitation or something. But quick follow up is key.

Presentations do not need to be fancy. I learned this by watching his slideshow presentations. There was nothing spectacular or even particularly intriguing or even professional about his presentations. But they were super effective.

Be So Excited! People like to work with and follow leaders who are excited and happy more than anything else.

Alright that's it for now! Let me know what you think of these tips, and if you've ever done something similar in the comments below.
